Baildon Centre

From BaildonWiki

Prior to the development of the centre of Baildon in the 1960s it was very differnt. Many of the older buildings still exist but the demolition of buildings on Kelcliffe, Browgate, Northgate and Hallcliffe allowed the roads to be widened and the Ian Clough car park to be built. Baildon Centre includes:-

A view looking up Browgate towards Towngate. Taken around 1920. John Wesley House on the left - shown as Rhodes grocers shop. Fountain Buildings and old Browgate shops on the right. Saville's sweet store advertising Tordoff's and Broke.Bond's tea, Robin Starch and Globe Metal Polish. Beyond is Bentley's beneath the Mechanics Institute advertising agencies for Rockcliffe Laundry and a Perth Dye works. The Wesleyan Chapel advertises T H Mallinson and J H Cook as the preachers next Sunday.
