Brook House
Brook Hill Stores is the original 'Brook House', built in 1718 for Thomas and Ann Brook. It is a Grade II listed building as are some of the cottages nearby - 2 and 4 Brookhill, 22 24 26 Brook Hill and Crowtrees.
Above the door at the rear of the property is a date stone, " B ", T A, 1718, and above that a circular window.
The older photo of the rear of the property shows stone steps on the right leading up to the door on the right. The door is now a window with a ground floor door below. The steps have been removed.
A Brook House is also at the bottom of Brook Hill, on the right.
Brookhill Stores
After several robberies, some of them violent, the owners, Barbara and Peter Haley decided to close the shop and at the end of March 2016, after 17 years for them, the shop door was closed for the last time. During his time at Brookhill Stores Peter had been a Parish Councillor having been co-opted on 9 February 2009 for the Baildon East Ward to replace Joanne Crowther.[1]
Brook House again
The shop has now been incorporated into the house and a 'Brook House' sign put up next to the door.
